Kanban Tool On-Site is distributed as a complete virtual machine image in OVA format and as a stand-alone .deb package for 64-bit Ubuntu 20.04 LTS.
The only requirement is a modern computer with at least 4 GB of RAM and about 10 GB free disk space, which can run Virtual Box or any other virtualization solution, e.g. VMware Workstation Pro.
Kanban Tool On-Site is the on-premise version of the Kanban Tool service, which you can run and manage in your own, secure environment.
It provides the same unprecedented promise and experience as the online kanbantool.com service while remaining fully under your control.
The most important difference is that the online service data is stored on our servers.
The On-Site version is installed on your company server, and requires no access to the Internet, so you do not need to worry about sending sensitive data to the cloud. You install it as a virtual machine on your server and manage updates and backups according to your company policy.
What that also means, is that Kanban Tool On-Site lacks Internet-based features, e.g. Zapier or file hosting services integration i.e. Google Drive, Dropbox, Box, and OneDrive. Kanban Tool On-Site is preset to be able to run in a completely web-isolated environment, keeping your data as secure as possible.
Kanban Tool On-Site integrates with our mobile applications, helping your team update their workflow on the go:
Android application
iOS application
To sign in to the mobile app, a user needs to provide the URL / IP address of your installation as Account name, for example: https://111.222.3.444
If you’re using Single Sign-On and there are users with no password set, note that they can use their API token to log in. In such cases, the username field needs to be left empty, and API token entered as password.
If you are using Kanban Tool On-Site’s self-signed SSL certificate, please note that on first login users will need to accept a warning message twice, after which the application will continue to log them in.
After you’ve been using Kanban Tool On-Site for a while, you may naturally start to run out of available disk space. To remedy the problem, please increase the available disk space by following the steps presented in this video guide:
Alternatively, you can create an additional, second disk for the application. To achieve that, please follow this guide:
