New Power-Ups: Board Readme & Gif Picker24 Nov 2020

We are happy to announce that two new Power-Ups are now available.

Kanban Tool supports over 20 fantastic Power-Ups, and we are always on the lookout for creating more to further extend the board's functionality and improve your productivity. If you've not yet tried any of them, go to your board's settings page and see how much you've been missing.

Board Readme

Thanks to Kanban's visual nature, many board layouts require no clarification, but some do follow rules that may not be apparent at first glance. The Board Readme Power-Up allows you to provide instructions on how the board should be used: its dos and don'ts, together with recommendations regarding how and when tasks can be created, moved, archived, or deleted.

One of Kanban's principles is making process policies explicit - ensuring that everyone knows knows each process step's definition and can apply its rules to process tasks correctly. The Board Readme is the ideal place to clarify these policies and any other relevant standard operating procedures without asking the team to access a separate set of documents elsewhere. It's letting you keep every important bit of information in one place - compact and always on-hand.

The Power-Up will work great for onboarding new team members, updating the team on newly enabled board elements, or even for issuing team-wide general updates!

Gif Picker

The second new addition - Giphy Gif Picker - adds a friendly touch to the task comments section, letting team members say more with fewer words by adding animated images to their comments.

We can all appreciate the difference that a simple smiley face or a cheerful gif can make to how a comment is taken, especially when working remotely. Furthermore, close-knit teams may find that using gifs, rather than text, could make the interaction quicker and more personal.
