Teknoice is a leader in semi-industrial and industrial ice cream production equipment, with over 40 years of experience in the industry.
Alfonso Olivieri, Teknoice's quality assurance manager & data analyst, was kind enough to share with us the story of his Kanban Tool implementation.

Please, tell us what your work is about.

We provide modern ice cream technology - innovative machines and solutions for custom ice cream creations: freezers, extrusion lines, pasteurization, filling, and wrapping machines, to name a few.

What kind of processes do you manage using Kanban Tool? What do your board and card template look like?

We use a Kanban Tool board to plan and execute our production process efficiently. Each card on the board represents a work order.

Kanban board example from Teknoice

Our card template has been customized to contain the following information:

  • Job ID
  • Customer order number
  • Item ID
  • Product description
  • Quantity to produce
  • Delivery date
  • Feed rate
  • Missing components

What adjustments did you make in order to improve your workflow?

As simple as it is to create and update a single Kanban card, things get complicated when the number of cards to be updated becomes high and changes frequently. To mitigate that, we implemented meticulous integration between the Kanban Tool board and IUNGO, our ERP system. To make the connection flawless, we rely on Kanban Tool API and KNIME (Konstanz Information Miner), an open-source data analytics, reporting, and integration platform.

What features or integrations do you value most in Kanban Tool and why?

  • The ability to import task cards by API, as it minimizes manual labor for us
  • The available customization of both the card template and the Kanban board layout itself
  • The tens of power-ups, which are a great plus for teamwork
  • The lack of limits on how many Kanban boards we create
  • The ability to have the Kanban Tool installed on our internal server
